I’ve found that to be true more and more, especially when things feel busy or overwhelming. It’s not about escaping the world, it’s about learning how to be steady within it.That takes practice. Sometimes the greatest harm comes not from what happens, but from the meaning we attach to it. Marcus Aurelius challenges that directly, and I think that is part of why his words continue to stay relevant. We do not control every event, but we do have a say in how deeply we let it live inside of us.That takes practice.
